HVAC-R Controls Technician (EMS & BMS)

Insight Services & Co. is seeking a skilled and experienced HVAC-R Controls Technician specializing in the EMS & BMS field (Danfoss, Emerson, Microthermal, RDM) controls to join our team. As an HVAC-R Controls Technician, you will be responsible for installing, programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining building envelope control systems primarily utilizing Danfoss and Emerson controls. This role requires expertise in working with these specific control systems and the ability to travel extensively across the continental US, as approximately 60-75% of the time will be spent on-site at client locations.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and commission HVAC-R control systems, focusing on Danfoss and Emerson controls.
• Collaborate with project managers and customers to determine control system requirements and specifications.
• Program (Initial entry to full CxA) and customize control systems to meet specific customer needs, ensuring optimal system performance.
• Perform system integration and testing, ensuring seamless functionality between different components and systems.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with the EMS & BMS control systems, utilizing technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve problems.
• Conduct initial inspections of HVAC-R control systems to ensure proper functioning and minimize downtime.
• Stay up to date with the latest advancements and updates in HVAC-R controls, particularly related to Danfoss, Microthermal, Emerson products, and recommend improvements or upgrades to enhance system performance.
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers, offering training and assistance to end-users in operating and maintaining control systems.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all system installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
• Travel extensively within the continental US, visiting client sites and working independently and as part of a team.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or degrees in HVAC or related fields are preferred.
• Proven experience working as an HVAC Controls Technician, specializing in Danfoss and Emerson controls.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of HVAC systems, components, and controls.
• Proficiency in programming and configuring HVAC control systems, particularly Danfoss and Emerson controls.
• Familiarity with industry protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, or Niagara Framework.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve control system issues effectively.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients and team members.
• Ability to travel within the US, approximately 60- 75% of the time.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
